NORMANDY,FRANCE
It’s not a daily event in my LIFE to plop my body down for DINNER in a 17 CENTURY CHATEAU……..do I PEEK your INTEREST?I assume I would………because it was LUSH, GORGEOUS,and WONDERFUL.I will let the photos speak for themselves. If you have QUESTIONS please ask me in the COMMENT SECTION and I will RESPOND!I took too many photos of the CHATEAU.I couldn’t HELP myself!Hope you enjoy the TOUR!

Dinner with my favorite companion…JACK!

As you can see I had no problem enjoying my surroundings! We slept in the outdoor buildings which were stables at one time.Dinner was in the CHATEAU at 8:00 pm every night. It was a bit of a walk through the pleached lime trees alley to reach the chateau but I had no problem with that as the view was different each and every night! Those lions that flanked the front door………I so coveted them.I wonder if she will put green wreaths about them during the HOLIDAYS.The kitchen with its soaring ceiling and iron stove was a sight. The dining room had knife rests! The CHATEAU is cool in the evenings so my velvet/raincoat did the trick!
Let me introduce you to the OWNERS of this magnificent spot. The Chateau is called……. D’EMALLEVILLE.
And is own by FREDERIQUE and ARNAUD.She is an outdoorsy woman and does the horse circuit while he is the General Manager of the FRENCH RUGBY TEAM.Here they are…………A BEAUTIFUL COUPLE………..the children possess the genes too!
So,if you find yourself in NORMANDY(only an hour from PARIS)and need a place to sleep………..I would highly recommend this spot. Each room has a different name………..I slept in the SEVILLE ROOM.YOU could have my room………to have slept where LA CONTESSA counted her wares each night thinking each and every day “DON’T BUY ONE MORE THING!”as you already know she doesNOT listen to herself TOO OFTEN!!Which in REALITY is a VERY GOOD thing!

La Contessa~ Oh where to start… the URNS, the marble fireplaces, the chandeliers, the LIONS covered in MOSS,the floors, the rugs, the paneling, the china, the ghosted mirrors! Oh no! I did not miss a snippet of your details! So fun to visit through your eyes.
Could you live like that? I think I could, but boy I would need some HELP!. Good thing you brought your velvet cape as it looked chilly.
Thank you for sharing these lovely pictures.

“Could I live like that?”Since, you have NEVER met me in person I will let this one slip…………..
YES, GIRLFRIEND I COULD.The old and detail beats the new and ugly by miles…….
Also, they have a slower pace of life and enjoy what they have more then we do.I just had this conversation with a dear friend!XO

Dearest Contessa,
The chateau looks divine.
You mentioned you coveted the lions, with me I’d have to dismantle their green house and ship it home….the gardens are gorgeous!!!
You must have missed your dogs so as I see you cuddling one under the table (I miss mine too whilst travelling……. but I’m pathetic!!!).
I love how you dressed for dinner in your gorgeous velvet coat……I’d be interested in what you thought of the meals.
I see I have mail (thank you xx). Something to look forward to when I return from walking the hound. Great posts Elizabeth and thanks so much for sharing your adventures xx Anita

The GREENHOUSE was recently re-stored.IT WAS A BEAUTY!It was on the way to the GARDENERS COTTAGE………which was absolutely CHARMING.A good walk from the CHATEAU.Pass the pool, tennis courts and the walled PEAR trees……..which I might add had a full wall on the other side of Hydrangeas!Which looked out onto the fruit tree ORCHARD.If your eye kept traveling it would take you to the horses grazing……….which backed up to my bedroom!HEAVEN.XOXO

contessa says
JACK, the DOG well he was constantly running in………MUDDY TOO!The HOSTESS did her BEST to get him out but WHY?IT was his HOME and he was just HAPPY to see more people!By the end of the week we were hiding him from HER!He knew which person to come too!!!!I find it interesting the people that SHOO a dog away (those that areNOT TERRIFIED)are the people I can skip.IT says a LOT about who you are as far as warmth and kindness……….XO

My dear, dear Contessa,
I LOVE CHÂTEAU LIVING! The French really know how to live. Simple elegance is how I’d describe this. Very to the point, original, no imitations, just pure antiquity and rugged elements mixed in with nature (LOVE the taxidermy) and chandeliers. PARFAIT!
contessa says
I wish YOU had been there……….we could have done a DANCE every night under the STARS………XO
