Wild. Wearing my gray cashmere wrap for the 1st time this season, on the chair beside me at present. Will order yours, mine is ancient.
Agreed, this blogging thing and match/making kindred spirits. You know, those of us considered, and considering ourselves, neo-Luddites.
Can’t wait to go over to Ellie’s world. Looking forward to finding Charlotte’s, and your, pearl earrings.
Oddly, most of your blog posts arrive when I most need them, while only having the smartphone. Cannot leave messages easily in that ‘mode’.
In the office with my cats, a good rain moving through, sheets on to wash, chickens fed, and now off with Beloved to appointments with clients.
Garden & Be Well, XOT

I am rather new to reading your blog. I am an antique nut. I saw you via the fabulous Tamera Beardsley. Who I adore. I am multitasking, cooking dinner and scanning blogs. Then, oh my. I read this post. It stopped me in my tracks. Ellie has ALS. I hopped over to her blog. I read about her. Blogging is powerful. I actually have chills. My tomato pie burned, and I don’t care. Thank you for sharing this lovely woman with your readers. Thank you for not keeping her to yourself. Thank you for your beautiful blog, if I had one, I would adore having such nice stories to share, not to mention your elegant style. You, like Tamera may have just become one of my favorite people on the web. Cheers to you.
contessa says
SO, sorry WE BURNT THE PIE!Make another one tomorrow………serve eggs instead tonight!I ADORE YOUR COMMENT!
YES,
Tamera and I have a few things in common ALSO!We also went to the same college………..HOW STRANGE is that?WE both majored in FASHION!!Please tell me more about yourself………….and do SUBSCRIBE!!On the left scroll down a bit from the TOP!
I would LOVE the TOMATO pie recipe!!!!
THANK YOU THANK YOU!
Barb says
Oh, my dear. I have subscribed! If you speak with Tamera, please tell her thank you for leading me into your path. She will know me, “Barb from Florida… the emailer, that wears converse sneaker and red lipstick.” I adore that gal, Ms. Tamera! The pair of you have such amazing style. And you are both tall! Unlike me, who resembles an “umpa lump.” I will tell you the pie is simple. I cheat and use Pillsbury pie crusts, load that in the oven and lightly brown. Cool. Whip together about 1 cup of your favorite mayo, be it homemade or out of a jar. together with 1/2 cup of freshly grated parmesan or asiago or a combo of the two. Slice up some beautiful tomatoes, 2 or 3 good sized ones usually fits the bill. Layer the bottom of the crust with those pretty slices. glob on some of the mayo mixture and spread it around the first layer, repeat. Oh, I forgot chop up some yummy fresh basil leaves and sprinkle those on the tomatoes. When the pie is full. Cover with tin foil. Bake at 350 for about 15 to 20 minutes. Remove foil, now this is when you need to stop reading blogs and focus. Bake for another 5-10 minutes, when it is all good and bubbly. Serve with your favorite glass of white wine, a salad and some fresh fruit for dessert. It is refreshing and light if you don’t count the mayo and and the cheese as calories. (Hence the umpa lump body) Perfect on a warm Florida day or at the end of tomato season. Cheers! Barb

I discovered Ellie sometime ago through another blog that is fabulous, Habitually Chic by Heather Clawson. Her photos are fantastic. She and Ellie are good friends. I recommend going back through Heathers old posts to see her photos and read about her friendship with Ellie. Heather spent the summer in paris, first staying with Ellie before finding her own place. I just adore Ellie’s blog, it makes you laugh and cry and really puts things into perspective. What an amazing woman and love that she tells it like it is. Susan

Hi Elizabeth, When I read this post a few days ago I stopped when I read ALS and literally teared up. Such a cruel senseless illness. My dear friend Shelley died of ALS a few months ago. Right before the incredible fundraiser awareness “The Ice Bucket Challenge.” She would have found that a good stroke of genius.
I am sad and angry to hear that Ellie has ALS. I cannot imagine her pain, but I can see her bravery and will read her blog. Ellie my prayers for gentleness, courage and grace will be with you. My friend lived with ALS for nearly fifteen years.
contessa says
THATS RIGHT!I did not make that connection………….
I have sent ELLIE your POST on the BLUE TRAIN……..telling HER about YOU and how you haveNOT missed a POST in 8 years…….well, that one time wasNOT your fault!

Hello Contessa,
just discovered your blog and am looking forward to your posts. I have been following Ellie for a while now and I agree with you she is an amazing soul. Living in Australia I don’t have much in common with her apart from the genuine honesty and directness. I love her posts, she always makes me laugh. I was in Paris in April and staying next door to the Louvre…..not far from Ellie. I would have loved to have caught up for a ‘cuppa’ as we say in Oz. Much love,Katrina x

I adore your shawl. It looks so soft. I want one too. Not that I would get much use out of it here. It’s still so darn warm. Anyway, Ellie is adorable. I was reading some of her posts and I think I am hooked too. She is only 1 year older than I am.
