I had to get OUTSIDE when I did this a couple of weeks ago.

Chopped off “OVER THE HILL “HYDRANGEAS and Plopped them into a VASE!

Just made me smile!

  AS THIS TOO MADE ME SMILE……….WINSTON & THEODORABLE

I have VERY NEEDY PETS……..and I would NOT WANT IT ANY OTHER WAY!

 I do not recall planting this MUM as I know I would never BUY IT!

 But I have to say this is YEAR TWO and its growing on me VERY MUCH!

 It must have been a GIFT and I wish I could recall WHO as I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT THIS YEAR!

 It shares a BIG URN with a SMOKEBUSH which I think needs the whole VASE……………what to do?

 BOLERO my favorite ROSE in MY GARDEN TO DATE!

Roses are still Blooming here in Northern California!

This photo would look SO MUCH BETTER without my bare hand!

Since I do not edit ANY PHOTOS EVER because I cannot be BOTHERED you get my hand with a dead rose and fingernails that need to breath from all that polish we cover them up with!

  THEODORABLE on my GRANDMOTHERS CHAISE……….

I have since added a Velvet Poof underneath him in Mustard color!

 

I know many of you doNOT DO INSTAGRAM SO I have to show you what I have been up to lately!

I was contacted by Peruvian Connection  to pick one garment out of five and they would send to me for FREE!ALL I had to do was model the sweater and mention them with their hashtags!

You see LA CONTESSA was TAKEN by a Voluptuous GAL at the time………think she is gone now and a restaurant has it!I did not want to use my REAL NAME for whatever reasons!So, since I was sitting in my ANTIQUE SHOP I thought ANTIQUEGODDESS was HYSTERICAL! Never contemplating the AGELESS STYLE banter and becoming part of that ADVANCED STYLE chit chat!

I have been on Insta since July 19,2013!!!!!!!!

 2019 minus 2013 =SIX YEARS

It has been SO fun and a WONDERFUL CREATIVE OUTLET FOR ME!

SO, Let’s chat a moment about my HEALTH!

SEE that rope around my neck?

I wore a HEART MONITOR for a month!

In fact, the scarf video I did because I was hiding it from YOU ALL!

IT FINALLY PAID OFF THAT HEART MONITOR!

I was pushing that symptom button A LOT!

THIS IS WHAT I FOUND OUT…….”Event monitor showed that for many of your symptoms  was normal heart rhythm For some there was isolated extra beats and for some “irregular beats”you had short runs of a faster heart rate paroxysmal atrial tachycardia.This is not dangerous but could be causing some of your symptoms.

The Cardiologist mentioned something else that had happened a few times but I must have not felt it as I didNOT PUSH THE BUTTON!

Paroxysmal atrial tachycardia is a type of arrhythmia, or irregular heartbeat. Paroxysmal means that the episode of arrhythmia begins and ends abruptly. Atrial means that arrhythmia starts in the upper chambers of the heart (atria). Tachycardia means that the heart is beating abnormally fast.

I decided for this POST I needed to look it up!This happens to me when I am in bed going to sleep or waking up!Guess I ‘m excited about my DREAMS and starting a NEW DAY!

SO, what WE have done is taken me off one drug I have been on for 20 years and put me on a new BETA BLOCKER.People, its ONLY been THREE DAYS but I feel BETTER!I do not wake up so exhausted after sleeping 8,9 or lately a lot 10 hours!My balance is better…….its tiny but I feel a difference!

My dreams will come true if this tiny pill I take twice a day makes those NASTY EPISODES GO AWAY!

I had two EPISODES in OCTOBER so much less than before.

That doctor in NAPA still has me YEAST FREE.We did introduce Dairy and I seem OKAY with it but MY ACUPUNCTURIST SAYS NO DAIRY!SO, I am staying away for the most part………unless there is HAAGEN DAZ COFFEE ICE CEAM in THE CASA!

Then I may have A MOMENT OF WEAKNESS!

Do you know how to TEST if the pearl is REAL?

My Girlfriend told me to put in my mouth and rub over my teeth  to see if it was SANDY!

  1. HI! Salty? Never heard that one, but I always rub against my teeth, and if it is “grainy” it is real. Smooth it is fake.

    Been doing that since I was about 6! I have always loved jewelry! Love that ring with the baroque real pearl!

  7. Hello Contessa, Although I am unlikely to need advice for wearing pearls or scarves, I enjoyed your videos, as I have never heard your voice before. It was not quite as I imagined it–although I am not sure what type of voice I had in mind. We have used the “sandy” pearl trick before–interesting how sensitive the teeth are in this case, when eyesight or fingernail do not detect the graininess. Come to think of it, another example is the texture of gold against the teeth–people used to bite gold coins to see if they were genuine, a practice not recommended anymore considering the value of old gold coins!

  8. Yes, much more bountiful, Contessa! Hahaha!! … How do you do those videos? Are you looking at a mirror or a camera? Internet mysteries … That sounds very “good news” that it may be your heart and prescription drugs that have been behind your mystery ailment. Not good news that it’s your heart but at least that’s a body part that doesn’t hold as many mysteries for doctors, and you do have a cardiologist already! Although … no-one thought to check into your drug’s potential side effects or effectiveness until now??? Sheeeshhh!!!

  13. Your hydrangeas look antique and worthy of the urn. The mum looks like it could be an aster and by me, some asters are considered invasive. But don’t quote me. I’m just a newbie. So maybe it landed there by accident?! So glad that your health is possibly improving. Must be a relief to FINALLY get some answers. xoxo

    • I recall planting it……………thinking store bought will NOT LAST!I LOVE INVASIVE FLOWERS SO THATS OKAY WITH ME!Between BANKSY and the SQUIRRELS I could NEVER have enough GREEN with a FLOWER AT the TOP!

  14. So glad you are feeling better. On the one hand, regarding your meds, if something has been working for 20 years, why change? On the other hand, of course our bodies do change so it isn’t that surprising that a different medication makes such a difference. In any case, it’s great news that you are doing better.
    I loved the scarf video. I tend to do the same things over and over and it’s good to be reminded of variations.
    Your hydrangeas look much better than mine.

  16. Hello, Contessa! I’m happy to hear you are getting to the bottom of the health issue you’ve been dealing with. You look beautiful. I have not been able to eat or drink anything with lactose, with is quite a bit of dairy. Butter and aged cheddar are okay though. Soy mile of coconut milk for my coffee are good, too. I have my tea black. Feeling 100% better since I stopped with the milk and other soft cheese and cream products.

    Anywho, thankyou for the scarf tutorial. I have a long one that I am perplexed with how to wear. I will wear it today following your video instructions.
    Love the blooming roses. My geraniums are still going here in Vancouver, Canada!

        I actually had a HOT CHOCOLATE from STARBUCKS yesterday and that did NOT like MY BODY what so ever………..I have been on ALMond milk for at least two years.
        I think I too will stay away from the DAIRY.Mozzarella seems to be okay with me!SO, I can eat my ITALIANS pizza!It’s good to TEST once in awhile……………My doc allowed me to try Dairy by one Tablespoon a day!XX

      Good news about the new meds and you feeling better. Why oh why was that overlooked so many times…? I, too, was given a new RX which resulted in less fatigue for me, after complaining about it for literally years. don’t those Drs listen??? Anyway, hope this is the answer for you.
      Your garden is one I envy. Always so lush and beautiful. We have a few things left blooming here, on the deck the roses are still so pretty, and all the fall colors are really something right now, I posted on my stories!
      Of course I follow you on instagram and have seen your fun videos. But better yet to see and hear you in person, would love to do a Filoli visit with you again, perhaps to see the holiday decor? I am open Thursdays and Fridays, let me know!

  25. The ROSES! BOLERO! I love it!!!! How lucky you are to still have these beauties blooming! Love the tutorials and all your clever ideas…will refer back to them! This new medicine sounds promising and I will keep my fingers crossed! Did I ever tell you about my FAMOUS EGG NOG! I make it every year. I call it TEXAS EGG NOG as the friend who gave me this recipe got it from her father who lived in TEXAS (he was a doctor)….well it included Hagen Daz coffee ice cream…I make ice cream balls out of the ice cream and freeze them over night on wax paper… A lot of Deans Egg Nog (not flavored), Hills Brothers coffee (chilled over night), JACK DANIELS and whipped cream. There is always a crowd around the punch bowl and I have actually had to quadruple the recipe (expensive considering the price of the Hagen Daz Coffee Ice Cream and the amount I have to use)…. If you are willing to throw off the dairy-free for a night…let me know…I will be happy to send this to you! It is best served in a large silver punch bowl

      • Here is the egg nog recipe.

        INGREDIENTS:

        8 pints Hagen Daz Coffee Ice Cream

        8 quarts of Dean’s eggnog (do not use fancy eggnog…..Dean’s is perfect….and cheaper)

        12 cups COLD COFFEE….. regular coffee….Hills Brothers Maxwell House….not flavored and already ground.

        4 Cups Heavy Whipping Cream

        3 CUPS OF JACK DANIELS…..or more if you like. I just like a hint of Jack Daniels and the 3 cups…in proportion with the other ingredients….is weak. The actual recipe calls for triple that amount and I found it dominated too much. I might put as much as 4 cups if I knew the people liked a boozier taste. NEVER would I put in the actual 8 cups the recipe calls for.

        Nutmeg

        THE DAY BEFORE

        Make the balls of ice cream from all the Hagen Daz pints. Put on a parchment lined cookie sheet and REFREEZE in FREEZER

        Make the 12 cups of coffee and put in the refrigerator to get nice and cold overnight…do not freeze though.

        45 MINUTES BEFORE SERVING

        Stir eggnog, coffee and Jack Daniels in a large, chilled punchbowl

        In a medium bowl beat the whip cream so soft peaks form. It will have “body”

        Fold the whip cream into the egg nog

        30 MINUTES BEFORE SERVING

        Place Hagen Daz coffee ice cream BALLS on top of the whipped cream….they will float. I like to make sure they balls are covered in the whipped cream

        Sprinkle NUTMET

  30. A jeweler taught me another trick to differentiate between real sparklers and fakes: hold the stone, if it feels cold it is most likely genuine, A fake will always feel warm to the touch. The things we learn!

    Seems like wearing the heart monitor proved useful; I’m so glad about that. I too have moments of heart palpitations as I am trying to fall asleep – only then. I think that a worrisome thought precipitates mine(?) Take good care, and I hope and pray that you are yet another step closer to better health.

  32. Hi Elizabeth, my mother taught me the pearl trick years ago. Not that I own many pearls 🙂 So glad to hear you are doing better. Sometimes those little tablets can cause all sorts of problems but there are many alternatives these days that will work just as well but with less side effects.     The pearl test is so intriguing, I’m ready to jump up right now to scratch some gorgeous earrings, a necklace, and ring my husband gifted me with many years ago. But you know…he would never intentionally buy me anything faux, so I think it would have been a disservice to him. But…shhhhhh…

      YOU are NEW here so to bring you up to speed I am in FOUR YEARS of having EPISODES which is MY TERM for LOSING my VISION and feeling FAINT!LAST year they came every 10 days……….I am left with a terrible headache for one or two days!I get NO WARNING.
      IT’s a HORRIBLE THING That is making me SLOW DOWN way FASTER than I want to be!

So Tardy to this Party…. adore the videos, as I do not follow instagram (probably because no cell is lashed to my body : ) So, I just got up and went to my scarf drawer where I have a small stash of mostly long scarves that I have worn more like shawls (they’re wide). Two were gifts from my artist, from vendor in UK, pure silk and stunning (one is all roses, you should have this : ) and I ran between my mirror and your video at a few times to make sure I had it right!! LOVE this!! I have admired others who wear amazing knots around their necks that look far too complicated to do–this I can MASTER : ) Wearing my cabbage rose scarf to work tomorrow!! And I will now head to Amazon for octopus-like pearl necklaces, as I’ve had no luck in local stores. Adore this look, too… (probably motivated by the NECK THING : ) SO GLAD the medical issue is diagnosed and being treated…praying the pills WORK!! Your pets are scrumptious..I am pondering a corgi puppy as my husband’s xmas gift… I have adored the breed from afar and think Mr. Chips needs a doggy companion, not just the aloof and bossy cat Samuel Adams!!
