MAY I INTRODUCE BONNIE TO YOU ALL!

SHE IS MY PICK FOR AGELESS STYLE THIS BEAUTIFUL MONTH OF NOVEMBER!

BONNIE is 73 and lives in the Los Angeles AREA.

Let’s read below and see what WE can learn from HER!

I hope you ENJOY her as much as I DO!


i was born in the bronx (1948) and was raised in the catskill mountains of new york – an idyllic place to be in the 50’s-60’s. had lots of family in nyc – so i was there alot.

  i was a country girl who wanted to grow up to be a broadway performer (ok…star:) as long as i can remember, i would be singing. i moved to nyc after a year of college to pursue my dream.  i performed in touring companies of ‘mame’ (with edie adams) and ‘fiddler on the roof’ with robert merrill. i traveled to every state.  after transitioning into the business of music and theatre, i moved to la on a total whim (ok, escaping from a miserable relationship) with my best girlfriend. we were in our 20’s and everyone thought we were crazy.  we crossed country with a uhaul and all our possessions including my 2 pekingese. we are still best friends. i worked for a film producer and music talent managers (for michael jackson and gladys knight amongst many others) for a few years and met my late husband.  i still wanted a ‘career’, but wasn’t sure at what…decided on interior design – as creative a career as i could imagine for myself.  i went back to school and worked for designers during the day…i was lucky to have fabulous female mentors coming up in the business.  i enjoyed 35+ busy years in my interior design career. i was very lucky. i travel as much as i can.  been to all 7 continents.  am, and have always been, totally inspired by my travels, the architecture, the color, the cultures.    

1.HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE?i don’t love the word eclectic – but that is what it tends to be.  each morning, i kind of decide what the day will present and who i want to be in that day…. 

2.WHAT INSPIRES YOUR SIGNATURE STYLE?i used to be a very ‘ralph lauren’ girl.  the whole equestrian thing.  it was inspired by my love of riding horses, i guess.  i don’t think i have a signature style anymore. i just need to feel comfortable and be comfortable. if i don’t think i look and feel good, i am not happy.

3.WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ACCESSORY?my eyeglasses.  they are in the middle of my face so i have to love, love, love how i look in them.  i have several pairs. i also have collections of pins, necklaces, scarves, earrings, …etc. etc.  kind of an entire accessory department that i go to to ‘complete’ an outfit. oh, and pocketbooks!  i have way too many.  and shoes, of course…are shoes accessories?

4.WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE COLOR COMBINATIONS?honestly, all of them.  my years in design has opened my eyes to all sorts of combinations. i am, however, finding myself in alot of blue lately.  and i love tertiary combinations…but not too terribly bright. 

5.DO YOU HAVE A SIGNATURE PIECE THAT DEFINES YOUR STYLE?my jeans jacket covered with pins that all have stories and are meaningful to me. and an indian blanket ralph lauren jacket that i’ve had for probably 40 years. 

6.WHAT ARE YOUR STYLE STRENGTHS?color, for sure, and knowing what looks and feels good on me. and mixing patterns.  love that.

7.DO YOU HAVE A STYLE MUSE?i grew up loving audrey hepburn. but many of the fashion models from my teenage years and my ’20s when i discovered and devoured vogue magazine. (still do). lauren hutton, jean shrimpton, candice bergen, isabella rossellini. 

8.WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE BEAUTY PRODUCTS and WHY CAN’T YOU LIVE WITHOUT THEM?olay regenerist, estee lauder advanced night repair, chanels eyebrow pencils, maybelline age rewind eraser, nyx lip pencils.  i love them because they work for me.

9.WHAT ADVISE DO YOU HAVE FOR WOMEN OVER 50?look at yourself in all directions, and inside and out.  start working out, if you don’t already. do things outdoors. take care of your skin. do things you never thought you would do.

10.DO YOU HAVE ANY STYLE RULES THAT YOU LIVE BY,OR DO YOU CHOOSE TO BREAK THE RULES?i’m sure i break rules. but comfort wins over all. i have a very broad definition of ‘age appropriate’. 

11.WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE ONLINE AND OR BOUTIQUE SOURCES?omg.  what did i do before the internet! gap and zara are my go-to’s, and johnny was. zappos. nordstrom.  neimans. i’m not a boutique girl. nothing ever fits me. i’m not a small girl. 

12.DO YOU HAVE A PARTICULAR DIET OR EXERCISE REGIME THAT YOU FOLLOW?i wish i could say i loved the gym. i force myself to go. mat pilates, weights, walking. weight watchers is my ‘diet’ of choice.

13.DO YOU HAVE ANY ANTI-AGING FOODS AND OR SUPPLEMENTS THAT ARE YOUR GO TO’S?i put collagen powder in my coffee every morning.  trying to get on the turmeric bandwagon.  i stay away from processed food.  can’t eat wheat. don’t miss it. is champagne anti aging?

Because I am in Northern California and wanted to meet HER I sent MY Southern California Connection  on a LUNCH DATE with Her to SCOOP her OUT!
That Lady as YOU all know is SANDRA SALLIN……….who recently had One of her paintings shown at MOCA in Los Angeles!
WHICH IS A BIG DEAL!!!!
Her painting will be in Los Angeles “With Pleasure:Pattern and Decoration 1972-1985”  which will be in Los Angeles until May 11, 2020.

  2. I love Bonnie and her attitude. She admittedly hates the gym (me too!!). I adore her colorful, no holds barred love of pattern, and the fact that she considers champagne anti aging!   5. Love, love, love this. You’re right you kept on bugging me if I’d made plans with Bonnie. I finally made plans just so you’d stop bugging me. Well, we had the best time together. We can’t wait to see one another after Thanksgiving. She is so bright, fun, open and a delight. It’s hard to find new buddies but she’s now one of mine!! Loved her feature. She was so open and informative. Love her chatter and decoration. Thank you also for featuring me. I had no idea. You’re so thoughtful. Perfect pick!!!!!!

  10. I know Bonnie forever and forever. Neither of us have a sister. So we are that to each other. I would fly to her side if ever she needed, and have done that. Actually our mother’s were sisters. I have always admired her style and have been somewhat jealous of her many talents, She’s quite the artist and designer, which is most probably what gives her the ability to create the look that she desires and wears so well, Bonnie is my go to for advice on anything that needs design or fashion. I am so proud and happy that you chose her for this months ageless style, she is truly amazing and I Love (HEART EMOJI) my cousin.

You go to places I only dream of, wear clothing that I would never have selected and help them to look great, take adventures that would startle Indiana Jones, and still come home to class reunions to mingle with the girls!   20. Bonnie has a lovely, playful style. I can agree with her “comfort” rule. I too was raised in the idyllic and bucolic Catskills – in the 60 and 70s (not far from Roscoe). Thank you Elizabeth for sharing with us another stylish woman.

      • SO MUCH RAIN!!!! I loved your video from Venezia, Elizabeth!! I think the Ponte Vecchio is out of danger, but the weather in Bella Italia is so dramatic this year.
        Bonnie- Orvieto is as lovely as ever, such a stunner. They have amazing Jazz festivals, as does Perugia. Umbria is lovely, and I am blessed to live here.

  33. I wish Bonnie were right here with me to rub off some of her magic. She’s ambitious, colorful (and not just her clothing), down to earth, honest, creative, and worldly. Can I come up with any more adjectives? Women like Bonnie give me a sense of confidence to move forward with my dreams and goals just as I’m approaching sixty and feel as if the things I’ve wanted in life life are no longer possible. She would be the perfect mentor for me!

  35. I’m thinkin the friendship matching idea could be taken to a lovely level if you’re at the helm…what a lovely prospect! Bonnie is beautiful, and I loved both reading her story and stepping into her cute shoes. My favorite ensemble is the black/gold tunic with flares – just gorgeous. A loose interpretation of ‘age appropriate’ feels just right for this fairy on the prairie too even though I’m not at all fashionable. Thanks for the color you bring to this sphere of influence, Contessa – your signature sparkle is a delight. xox
