ANOTHER YEAR HAS ALMOST PASSED US BY!
LUCKY US TO STILL BE CELEBRATING AND READING the GOBSMACKED STUFF of THEVINTAGECONTESSA.NET!
I wanted to check in with ALL OF YOU to say I LOVED your emails and notes and phone calls and GIFTS while I took some much needed downtime.As most of you know I was a MESS and had been suffering for years from an ailment NO DOCTOR
nor HOMEOPATH or SPECIALITY DOCTOR could figure out!
It had been going on for years but I took it upon myself to start writing down my EPISODES as I called them SIX YEARS AGO November!
In a nutshell I would lose my vision then feel faint then be left with a headache…….for up to TWO DAYS.
No over the counter meds could take the headache away.
It was like I had been struck by a TRUCK.
The feeling FAINT part; I thought I was dying…………..
Needless, to say THAT WOULD BE THE END OF MY DAY!
Not a whole lot of STUFF got done for years!
So, now I am playing CATCH UP and LOVING THE PROCESS!
I have spent SEVEN DAYS cleaning the pantry and I am still NOT DONE!
(Mine you not the whole day!)
I have been sorting and tossing and trying hard to give stuff away but the MARIE KONDO just does not sit well with me!
I have polished silver and organized vases.
I have alphabetized my spices!
THANK YOU DAVID PHILLIPS divine friend of YEARS for that brilliant IDEA!
My pantry is for DRY FOODS plus I have to share with MR. & MRS. WASHER & DRYER plus the floral gizmo’s and ribbons!
Also,THEODORABLE GATTO FANTASTICO THEODORE the ORANGE CAT EATS IN THERE!
Many aspects to figure OUT!
NOT AS EASY AS IT SHOULD BE!
I’m REALLY in NO hurry as it has bothered me for MONTHS, well years actually and I AM SO HAPPY I CAN DO IT NOW!
YOU see before I couldn’t move my head up or down or move quickly from side to side……..
I would get terribly DIZZY and LIGHT HEADED.
But NONE OF THAT ANYMORE!
I AM FEELING SO MUCH BETTER!
I started a new medication on SEPTEMBER 27,2021 and I had a few hiccups at first, but after three weeks I was getting REALLY HOPEFUL!
I had ONE EPISODE as I called them that was VERY SHORT in a months time.
It’s been over two months now I have had TWO TOTAL EPISODES very short and TWICE my eyes wanted to GO BUT DIDNOT!
The sensation is that my eyes are “LOCKING”.
STEADY AS SHE GOES!
I feel THAT is PROGRESS!
I HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSIS WITH FOCAL SEIZURES due to EPILEPSY.
I AM ON AN ANTISEIZURE MEDICATION called BRIVIACT.
It’s EXPENSIVE but worth it in my case.
It costs $150.00 for 60 pills.
AND thats with INSURANCE so $2.50 a pill or Five dollars a day!
IAM WORTH IT!

I had him pick out his own vessel for milk!
He picked the Pink glass!
AT this visit he decided he needed some little gift for his NANA……….so I said,” GO SHOP!”
I told HIM I will tell you if I NEED to keep it or you can give to your NANA ,who by the way has been MY FRIEND for YEARS!
Let me just say HE HAS EXQUISITE TASTE LIKE HIS NANA!
WE wrapped it in tissue and I sent him on his MERRY way!

with a NOT FOR SALE SIGN on it!
I GUESS I TOO CAN HAVE A MARIE KONDO MOMENT!
This is ONE SPECIAL LITTLE BOY AND I AM SO LUCKY TO HAVE HIM IN MY LIFE!

I am writing to you today as I cannot eat ONE SINGLE THING just drink.

YEP, you got it if your over 60.
The good news is I will be able to MANGIA BENE for TURKEY DAY on Thursday!
I was just there 8 months ago for THIS PROCEDURE
at that time they wanted me back in SIX MONTHS!
I recall specifically asking if they would contact me or should I contact them and it was stated.
THEY WOULD CONTACT ME!
I thought about it for a moment thinking that’s NOT GOOD normally you go back in 5 to 10 years!
Well, I contacted them and got MORE of an EXPLANATION…….seems they want to check on some TISSUE!
NERVOUS you say?………. YES……A LITTLE BIT!
Then there is the BLACK spot on my leg.
It looked like a pimple but would NEVER come out NO MATTER HOW MUCH I SQUEEZED IT!
Had that burned off and after TWO months it’s still RED underneath and the whole circumference
AND THAT BLACK DOT IS STILL THERE!!!
I sent a photo to the DERMATOLOGIST and she thinks its a BRUISE NOW!
Heck, I have not even been shaving MY LEGS TO MAKE CERTAIN IT HEELED RIGHT!
Does look bruised on the left but thats just my veins!
I am ALWAYS COLD.
Especially my hands, nose and feet.
The two little BLACK DOTS are my pen showing THE DOCTORESSA where the question lies……..
Does this look normal for two months AFTER a PROCEDURE
to those of you who have had this stuff worked on before?
I was told it was a form of CANCER!

The place on your leg looks exactly like the squamous cell cancer I had (pretty much in the exact same place). I have had 5 of theses cut out and they always look like a huge pimple at first and itch like crazy. I would definitely find a dermatologist that is qualified to do Mohs surgery and have him look at it. Easily fixed if cared for early. Good luck and may God bless you.

Have you tried COSTCO for your medications? Soooooo much cheaper than a chain pharmacy.
You do not have to belong to COSTCO in order to use their pharmacy. I did not read all the comments, so

At least call COSTCO and ask their price for your medication.
It might be cheaper to just get a written Rx and ignore Kaiser.
I needed an RX not covered by insurance $100 for 30 piils
at chain and $17.00 at Costco.

Hello Contessa, You look so relaxed and rested up–your time off has been turned to good account. I recall that when I was little, we had a single red glass that was my favorite–incredibly, it still was present up to the time that I packed up my house in Cleveland to move to Taiwan. However, those boxes have been moved around a lot and quite a bit of stuff has disappeared, so these days I am never quite sure what I still own and what I don’t.

As for cold feet, hands and nose, I suffer from that too. Many decades ago the doctor diagnosed my condition as Reynaud Syndrome. It’s miserable but one learns to cope. That is Life n’est-ce pas?

Hi Contessa, I’m so happy you are feeling better and I pray you will have a healthy holiday season and New Year. I saw your bra dilemma on your blog. I’ve had a lot of skin problems this year and bras have felt so uncomfortable! I LOVE these tanks w built in cups from Amazon. They give me some support, don’t bind, and the material is very soft. I think with your caftans you may like them. I usually wear a 40b bra and the XL in this style is very comfortable. My other choice when I want to be “perkier” are the Shapeeze bras. Otherwise, I want to throw all my bras away!
I recognized you at a de Young museum exhibit Bouquets to Art a few years ago in SF. We chatted for a few. Love your style, your blog, keep it up!

You advocated for yourself, and you kept looking for a solution. This should give hope to others. As to your medication, look up the drug manufacturer on line and see if they offer any sort of discount. Many companies do, but you have to find it and ask for it. Your little neighbor is absolutely precious. I love that he chose the pink crystal and that he went shopping in your museum, I mean, home. It is a delight to see little glimpses into the vignettes you have created there. It’s also great to see pictures of you looking so healthy and relaxed. Keep up the good work! All of us will be cheering you on, my friend.

MY LUNG DOCTOR who was up to his eyes with COVID patients in TWO HOSPITALS was a REAL HERO AND CHAMPION FOR ME!HE WAS THE BRILLIANT ONE WHO HAD ME HOOKED UP FOR SEIZURE TESTING!!!
IT was just LUCK they saw 20 SPARKS GO OFF THAT NIGHT IN MY HEAD………….now I am wondering if that was a LOW number or a HIGH NUMBER but it does explain WHY I HAVE BEEN SO TIRED FOR SO MANY YEARS!My body was fighting off the SEIZURES……………XXX

I rather suspected the epilepsy diagnosis was on the cards with your throw-away reference on a previous post – honestly, $5 a day for a magic pill is what the chi-chi around here pay for a takeaway coffee, so it’s a cheap price to have a life transformed! And have that leg-spot checked again. When in doubt, cut it out is always my motto, courtesy of a life in a sun-blazed country!!

Elizabeth, Fantastic to hear you are feeling so much better. It’s just a pity that it took so long. Seems middle aged women are a neglected demographic by the medical professions.
Anyhoo, that spot on your leg, I would be pushy and insist you want it removed, cut out and anyalysed. I had a mole on my shoulder that multiple Drs told me was not an issue. Couldn’t be skin cancer because I was too young – only in my late 20s. I insisted it get removed and it certainly was a skin cancer which fortunately was slow growing. I’m an advocate of being safe rather than sorry.

Good morning, beautiful, healthier and happier Contessa! Was wondering what time this morning I could fly by and return your ENGLISH magazines? I called you yesterday when I was in the area….but no connect. Lots going on for me the past 2 months…one of my sisters suddenly died (age 67 and healthy and fit) so we have been thrown big time. She lived in MCC and her children are now 30, 34 and 38 with her son living in London with wife and 2 year old boy. All coming on Monday for a month or so for Christmas with us and undoing their mother’s home. All very hard but it is what it is.
Let me know what works for you….I don’t want to leave them on a cold porch to get chewed up by a pooch, a cat or a pig!
